Don't Get An Online Personal Trainer Until You Read This!

Now more than ever people are looking to lose weight, build muscle, flatten their bellies and even see their six pack abs for the first time in a long time.  Personal trainers everywhere are offering their services on the internet. However, with demand comes unqualified and undertrained instructors and coaches.  There are a lot of great online trainers but you need to know what to look for.  Here are a few tips:

1. Is the trainer certified by an accredited certifying body like the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)?  
There hundreds of personal trainer certifications out there. Most are not worth the paper they are printed on. In fact, I know someone who went online and had their cat certified as a personal trainer. Beware!

2. Is the trainer a full-time trainer? In other words, do they train people as their occupation?  Is it their only job? If not, beware.  As you we all know, achieving your fitness goals are not easy and you need someone fully committed to coach you along the way.

3. Does the trainer have proof of results?  A skilled trainer and coach should be able to provide documented results and testimonials from past and current clients.  If they can't show they deliver what they promise then keep looking.

4. Does the trainer address all the key areas needed in order to burn fat, speed metabolism and transform your body naturally - nutrition advice and sample meals and recipes, weekly contact and coaching, proven weight training and cardiovascular programs that are safe and realistic to perform,  and guidance on supplements?  If the trainer is only going to give you exercise programs then results will be limited at best. It doesn't take Einstein to figure out that you need to look at both exercise and diet if you are going to get anywhere.

5. Does the trainer "live it"?  No one is inspired by someone you doesn't do what they preach so be certain that your personal trainer trains regularly and looks the part. You may want to ask the trainer if they ever competed in sports or what they do now for training.

As a final question, find out if the fitness trainer is continuously improving and honing their skills. Are they going to conferences, reading books, and giving seminars?  

If you find one that fulfills all of these traits then you can bet you found a reliable coach that will give their best and combined with your 100% effort you will achieve your fitness goal!
